Pedro M. P. Gois



BIO

Gois studied chemistry at the New University of Lisbon, where he received his PhD in organic chemistry in 2005 under the supervision of Prof. Carlos Afonso. From May 2005 to May 2008, he worked as a postdoctoral research fellow at the University of Sussex with Prof. F. Geoffrey N. Cloke FRS; at University College London with Prof. Stephen Caddick; and at the Instituto Superior Técnico (Technical University of Lisbon) with Prof. Carlos Afonso. In May 2008, he joined the Faculty of Pharmacy at the University of Lisbon (FFUL) as a research fellow in the medicinal chemistry group (iMed.UL – Research Institute for Medicines). In July 2013, he was appointed Principal Investigator and head of the Bioorganic group at the same institution. In 2017, he received his habilitation in pharmacy and was appointed assistant professor at the Faculty of Pharmacy. He currently holds the position of Associate Professor with Habilitation at FFUL, leading the Chemical Biology laboratory at iMed.UL. In April 2025, he was elected coordinator of iMed.
