Margarida Diogo finished her PhD thesis in Biotechnology at Instituto Superior Técnico (IST) in 2004. She is presently an Assistant Professor at the Department of Bioengineering of IST, lecturing classes on Cell and Tissue Engineering and Stem Cell Bioengineering. She is also a senior researcher at the Stem Cell Engineering Research Group (SCERG) of the Institute of Bioengineering and Biosciences (iBB) at IST where she leads the research theme “Bioprocessing of Human Pluripotent Stem Cells (hPSCs) for Regenerative and Precision Medicine” (http://scerg.tecnico.ulisboa.pt/research.html). Her research activities are focused on the development of neural and cardiac differentiation models from human induced pluripotent stem cells (hiPSCs), and their application for disease modeling, drug screening and toxicology assays. In the last years she leaded several national projects as PI and she published 45 peer-reviewed papers, 11 book chapters and 1 book and she was the co-editor of 1 book.
