After completing a degree in Biology and a three years research period in Pharmacology, Perpétua Pinto-do-Ó enrolled the Gulbenkian PhD Program in Biology and Medicine. During a postdoctoral training at Instituto de Biologia Molecular e Celular-IBMC she developed further skills in molecular immunology and late became a researcher at INEB where she leads the Stem Cell Microenvironments in Repair/Regeneration team. Along with her long-time interest on basic stem cell biology mechanisms Pinto-do-Ó got interested on understanding the role stem/progenitor cells allocated to specific tissue/organs might have on the regeneration in the adult organism. Pinto-do-Ó also become an Invited Scientist at the Institut Pasteur, INSERM U668, Paris, France. In 2016 Perpetua Pinto-do-Ó has assumed the presidency of the Portuguese Society for Stem Cells and Cell Therapy (SPCE-TC).
